Mystics Take Down Chargers

The Mystics bench, led by Hannah Fuller and Samia Amadou combined for 25 of the 41 points scored and helped the MSVU Mystics defeat the visiting Crandall Chargers by a score of 93-47. The Chargers with only 9 players were in tough from the start but battled the Mystics for a full fourty minutes with their effort, but too much depth and firepower on the Mystics team, eventually wore the Chargers down by the end of the game. Victoria Strickland was inserted into the starting lineup today and added 20 points. She replaced starting point guard and league leading scorer, Amanada Pearcey. Samia Amadou contirbuted a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while two other Mystics flirted with the double double. Nalini Maharaj added 9 points and 10 rebounds and Keezaidra Smith scored 8 points and brought down 8 boards. Top players for the Chargers were Olivia Hanham who did a nice job comign off the nech to add 12 points 4 rebounds 2 assists and 2 steals, whicl eKelsey Alward added 7 points and 9 rebounds. Kylee Balser had a nice all around game playign 35 minutes, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 5 points. 

The Mystics forced the Chargers into 38 turnovers and limited them to 55 shots, but they hit some timely threes and kept the game close going into the half. The Mystics tripled the Chargers core in the 3rd quarter and more than doubled it in the fourth as the depth really paid off for the Mystics scoring 26 points in the final frame. The Mystics also dominated the Chargers on the boards with a 46- 33 advantage including a 23- 5 advantage on the offensive side of the stat. 

The Mystics move to 11-1 on the season and the Chargers at 0-12. The Mystics will stay at home for two games heading into Febuary. They wiull host UNBSJ on Febuary 3rd and follow that up the next day when the Tommies from ST. Thomas visit the A Garnet Brown Gymasium. Game times are 2pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday. The Chargers stay in Halifax and will play the UKC Blue Devils on Sunday Jan 29th.
