Tommies and Seawolves Battle to 1-1 Draw at Grant Harvey Turf

Tommies and Seawolves Battle to 1-1 Draw at Grant Harvey Turf

Fredericton, NB - St. Thomas Women's Soccer Team hosted the UNBSJ Sea Wolves at STU's inaugural International Football night at the Grant Harvey turf field.

Both teams were vying for valuable points leading into playoffs in this closely contested match.

The first half was highlighted by lots of back and forth with a couple of good scoring chances for both teams. Lauren Erb for the Tommies denied the Seawolves a few times in the first half.

Neither team was able to convert, and the score was 0-0 at the half.

Both teams came out strong in the second half. Brooklyn Saunders opened the scoring and put STU out to a 1-0 lead about twenty minutes into the half.

UNBSJ's Scarlette McDonald responded a few minutes later to bring the score even at 1-1.

Lindsey Smith had a chance in added time but was thwarted by a nice save from Casey Grant Spin. A last minute corner gave the Tommies another opportunity, but it wasn't to be, and the final score stood at 1-1.

Tim Hortons Players of the Game were the night's lone goal scorers, Brooklyn Saunders for STU and Scarlette McDonald for UNBSJ.

The Tommies hit the road to face Crandall University on October 20th in their final regular season game of 2024 .
