Hurricanes dominate home opener

 The Holland Hurricanes women's volleyball team were able to snap their two game losing streak as they defeated the UNBSJ Seawolves 3-1 in their home opener.

The Hurricanes came out of the gate struggling as they fell behind 19-13 and forced head coach Craig Hoskins to call a timeout. The Canes came out of the time out firing, scoring six unanswered points and cutting  the Seawolves lead down to two.

Seawolves head coach Colin Chambers was forced to call a timeout, to regroup his girls and take control of the set again. The Seawolves were able to gain momentum again, as they outscored the Hurricanes 4-1 and took the first set 25-20.

 The second set saw a totally different team as the Hurricanes didn't give the Seawolves a chance to get anything going. Morgan White was the standout is this set as she scored seven points and helped the Hurricanes take a 10-1 lead early in the set.

 The Hurricanes didn't look back from here, as they out scored  the Seawolves 15-11 for the remainder of the set and won the set 25-12 to tie the game.

 The third set saw both teams struggle. The Seawolves took an early lead in the set 9-3, but weren't able to keep the gap as they gave up three unanswered points, but still led 9-6.

 The Hurricanes couldn't get anything going early on in the set as they continued to trail, until Morgan White scored seven points in a row and helped the Hurricanes take a 20-14 lead and forced the Seawolves to take a time out. Both teams traded points back and forth but the Hurricanes were able to hold on and win the set 25-20 and take a 2-1 lead.

 The Hurricanes took advantage of their home crowd and put up a dominating performance in the fourth set. Leading 19-10 the Hurricanes were in control, but the Seaowlves were able to cut into that lead and make it a four point game. The Hurricanes took off from there scoring four straight points, winning  the set 25-17 and the game 3-1.
