Hurricanes fall to Mounties in four sets

The first set started with both teams going back and forth, but it was Mount Allison who was able to grab on to some momentum and took a 15-12 lead and forced the Hurricanes to call a timeout. With the score 17-12 the game was delayed due to a scoreboard issue.

Despite the delay Mount Allison continued to pile on the pressure, extending their lead to eight 22-14 and forcing another Hurricanes timeout. With the score 22-15, the Hurricanes brought on number 13 Andria Nelson to serve. Nelson's serves were able to help the Hurricanes claw back, cutting the lead down to four and forcing a Mount Allison timeout.

Mount Allison were able to turn it around and win the first set 25-19 and take a 1-0 lead in the game.

The second set started the same as the first with both teams trading points. Similar to the first set, it was the Mounties who were able to get hot taking seven point lead 16-9 and forcing a Hurricanes timeout.

The Mounties continued to dominate after the timeout, out scoring the Hurricanes 9-2, winning the second set 25-11 and taking a 2-0 lead in the game.

The third set saw the Hurricanes get out to a quick 8-3 lead. Despite the hot start from the Hurricanes, the Mounties were able to battle back and tie the game at 13-13. With the game tied, the Hurricanes were able to go on a run and take a 17-15 lead, forcing a Mount Allison timeout.

The Hurricanes were able to keep their momentum after the timeout holding onto their lead 22-19.The Hurricanes continued to dominate the rest of the set, and won the 25-21 and cut Mount Allison's lead in the game down to 2-1.

The Hurricanes were able to get out to another quick lead at the start of the fourth set 4-1, but the Mounties were able to erase that deficit and tie the game at five. The Mounties didn't stop there, they continued their run and took a 11-7 lead. Despite falling behind by four, the Hurricanes stormed back scoring five unanswered points and taking the lead 12-11.

The Mounties were able to comeback taking a 16-15 lead and forcing a Hurricanes timeout. The Mounties continued to dominate after the timeout taking a 22-15 lead and forcing another Hurricanes timeout. Mount Allison didn't look back as they took the fourth set 25-19 and won the game 3-1.

Hurricanes will be back in action in the new year.
