Mystics defeat Tommies in Five

Mount Saint Vincent Mystics and St. Thomas Tommies went toe to toe in an exciting five set matchup where the home team Mystics came out victorious. The first set looked to be going in favor of MSVU as they were up by 5, however, STU didn't give up and came back to cinch the set with a score of 24-26. The rallies were all hard fought, resulting in an intense game. Set 2 the Mystics again had a decent lead which they were able to hold on to for a 25-19 finish. Both teams' offense was heavily firing, and many points resulted from unsuccessful blocks that deflected the ball in the wrong direction. Tommies Kathleen Boyle reached a total of 6 kills by the second set while rookie Amelia Faulkner, since coming off the bench mid-way through the first set, had racked up 8 kills; Mystics Cathrine Macphail and Taylor Kurkurski  both accumulated 7 kills each.

The third set was back and forth the whole way, both teams put on impressive displays of effort with acrobatic saves to keep the ball alive. The score ended as a flip from the first set, 26-24 in favor of the Mystics. Set 4 was not as close with the Tommies taking off from the start with an 11-3 lead, the Mystics slowly worked their way back, but the set was taken by the Tommies with 16-25. The fifth set brough more high energy plays with the Mystics leading the scoreboard until the final score of 15-8. As a result of the match MSVU moves to a record of 8-2 and STU records 5-5.
