The Mount Allison University Mounties earned a spot in the 2025 ACAA Volleyball Championships with a 3-2 win over the Dalhousie Rams in Semifinal action on Saturday afternoon at the McMillan Centre for Community Engagement.Each of the five sets saw incredibly close back-and-forth action, both teams were composed and the crowd was energized for both sides.The Mounties started the first set strong taking a 5-1 lead, but the Rams continued to battle back and after some great play by both teams they were tied at 20. The Mounties would then go on a 5-1 run and take the first set 25-21.The start of the second set was another battle as Dalhousie jumped out to a 5-1 lead. But the Mounties would go on to tie the set 10-10. After more back and forth the Rams found themselves up 18-16. They would go on a dominant run for the rest of the set, winning it 25-18.The teams went back and forth in the third set and were tied 8-8. The Rams went up 17-15 when the Mounties called their first timeout. Mount Allison battled back, tying the set at 21. The Rams took the lead and were up 24-22 when the Mounties took their final timeout. It didn't help; coming out of the timeout, Dalhousie finished the set. Winning 25-22.The fourth set started more of the same, the teams found themselves tied at four when the Mounties started to pull away and lead 11-7. The Rams took a timeout but the Mounties continued their attack, taking a commanding 17-10 lead which forced Dalhousie to call their final timeout. The Rams tried to battle back but the deficit would prove to be too much as the Mounties would go on to win 25-20.The fifth set would start with the Rams taking a huge 4-1 lead. But the Mounties would battle back and tie the set at four. The Rams went on a three-point run which forced the Mounties to take a timeout. But, Dalhousie wouldn't let up their attack taking a 10-4 lead. The Mounties didn't give up, and went on a three-point run, forcing Dalhousie to take a time-out up 10-7. The Mounties continued battling and eventually tied the game 11-11 and didn't look back. They went on to complete the comeback and win the match 3-2.Maryn McCoombs was awarded Rams Player of the Game Honours after recording 13 digs and six kills. Callie Immerkar led in kills with 16, Leah Jollimore scored the most assists with 39, and Ashley Rideout led in digs with 16.Julia Henry was awarded Mounties Player of the Game Honours after recording six kills, two assists, and nine digs. Emma Burns led with 12 kills. Logan Tait scored the most assists with 39. Tait was tied with Burns for most digs with both having 13.The Mounties will play the winner of the St. Thomas University Tommies and the University of Saint John Seawolves in the Championship game on Sunday Afternoon.
